Washington Resident Stephen Powell Fears Vigilantes in the Tacoma Area

Stephen Powell has a disturbing past along with his two sons Michael and Josh.  Powell was released from prison on March 16, 2014 after spending a couple of years in prison for recording images of  neighborhood girls in their bathroom.  Even while going through trial it is reported that Powell appeared unapologetic for his actions. Powell was 62 years of age when he was sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison.

Powell now out of prison is asking the state of Washington to pay for his sex offender treatment as he was not offered it while he was incarcerated.  Powell is tracked by the state using court-ordered GPS system on his ankle and goes to counseling sessions in the King County area.

While asking for this treatment he apparently asked not to have cameras in the court room.  He was quoted saying, “there’s so much vigilante activity out in the community that I don’t need my face out there on the media any more than it already is. My life is in danger because of people like this.”

One can only wonder how he would not assume there would be vigilante people in any community wanting to protect their children from voyeurs and sex offenders.  With that being said reports have indicated Powell has never complained of any vigilante justice carried out against him.

Apparently his is looking to move from the Pierce county area away from the “Vigilante community” that he claims he lives near.  I would only ask, what is taking him so long to move?

By the way, the judge refused to pay for his sex offender treatment and Powell will have to pay out of pocket.  I think that state and the community has paid enough and Powell has not.
